From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the lovely lady at the front desk, Sijabula (SJ). She truly embodies the spirit of hospitality and was an exceptional ambassador for the Portswood Hotel. Her thoughtfulness made my stay genuinely memorable she went out of her way to assist with a room change when the elevators were offline, and to my surprise, I returned to find a delightful birthday treat in my room. It was such a kind and personal touch that really meant a lot. Breakfast was another highlight — simple, yet so enjoyable, thanks to the two talented chefs who prepared the most delicious variety of eggs with care and a smile. The healthy competition between them added to the humor; one of them sang cheerfully while preparing his patron's meals on an occasional morning. They also took the time to share tourist attractions with guests who were happy to know. Thank you to everyone at the Portswood Hotel for your warmth, kindness, and for going above and beyond. You’ve set a shining example of best practice in hospitality!

Extremely pleasant, fantastic appealing and realy stylish hotel in a perfect and strategic location 3 minutes walk from V&A Waterfront. High comfort by the room (with all you need for a relaxing stay), excellent service at every level (reception, restaurant and bar, housekeeking), extraordinary attention with great helpfully effort and effectiveness to any need of the customer all time. Luxurious breakfast with a largest English/Continental choise and highest quality of products. A great plus comes from the Restaurant with a real gourmet menu of South African typical courses for great value for money. Pls note that due to an unexpected misunderstanding on the Booking.com reservation I was assigned a room of a lower standard than the one booked, but with free early checkin and late checkout, and free dinner too: really much appreciated. Finally, very nice and sunny swimming-pool available until evening late with free towels. Highly recommended!

The staff were extremely friendly especially the man that cooked the eggs and has been there for 27 years. The food at breakfast was amazing. As it was our Silver Wdding Anniversary they spoilt us with beautiful rose petals and wine and chocolates in our room and a lovely cake at breakfast on our anniversary morning. We stayed here 25 years ago when we got married and loved it then and so wanted to go back for our anniversary. Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and we LOVED it

Great location and friendly, helpful staff. Nice midsize hotel with great service and a pool area. Had lunch at the restaurant and the service and food was great, unfortunately we didn't have breakfast, but from what we heard it was great. Walking distance to the V&A waterfront, Aquarium and more, so you could leave the car parked in the parking garage. Easy access to main roads when we had to go further afield.

We appreciated the upgrade as we were there for one night. The breakfast was amazing. We were in another country in Dec/ Jan - what you provided us for breakfast, hospitality and price is much much better. It was nice to be a tourist on my own country. The walk to the Waterfront is also great and convenient. You are out of the hussle and bussle, yet within walking distance.
